-If you bought it used, it's broken. If not, possibly a bad hard drive or not enough memory. Maybe a virus even? Have you been on dirty websites or clicked on an IM link? We need specifics....time, date, how often, what triggered(s) it, etc...

Uninstall all the garbage that came on your computer: AOL, random game consoles, QuickBooks Demo, Encarta Trial, Microsoft Word Trial, etc.

Also, click on Start, click on Run, and type in MSConfig. Go to the Startup tab and uncheck all the applications you don't need. That'll free up a lot of resources on your computer.

Last, be sure to have some Anti-Virus and Spyware programs running to keep unwanted and otherwise undetectable programs off your system.

I recommend getting a MAC.
If its freezing it could have too little RAM.
If you are running loads of programs at the same time (internet, music, games etc) it will slow your pc.
Otherwise it could be a virus. There are over 114,000 viruses for Windows, hence why I recommend getting a Mac from Apple because they don;t have any virus's. http://www.apple.com/

If it's new then take it back. If you've had it for awhile, quit installing every new program you find. Before you install a program, carefully evaluate whether you really want it, and if it's from a VERY reliable source.

Now to fix it, go to
Start...
All Programs...
Accessories...
System Tools...

then run System Restore
it's easy to figure out.
