Most likely 2 weeks before due date. Thats just typical but, he could schedule it as early as 37 wks. The reason why they schedule them early on is because they dont want to take the chance of you going into labor or preterm labor. There is a reason for scheduling a cesarean. And yes they will schedule it early and no the 11th is not early enough. Planned cesareans are ALWAYS at the very lease a week before due date and i am a pediatric nurse and work with several physicians so i know what i am talking about and i HAVE had a cesarean but, it was a last minute emergency cesarean. And NO it doesnt leave a nasty scar. Apply vitamin E and it would be damn near invisible. But, yes you will have a scar usually about 6 inches wide and it will be at you pubic line so a bathing suit would even cover it up. Im sorry i just hate reading stupid answers by people who have no idea what they are talking about.

I suppose it depends on why you've scheduled a C-section.
I had a scheduled C-section because of preeclampsia, after an emergency C-section due to preeclampsia. And they did them both early, because the condition is progressive, can be fatal, and it was better for both of us with the baby out instead of in.
If you're having a C-section because "the baby is too big" or you have abnormal pelvic structure or you have a vertical incision from a previous uterine surgery or something like that, there's no reason to do the surgery early.
Remember that your due date is only an estimate, and it can be wrong by 2 weeks in either direction. So the baby that you think will be 39 weeks on the 11th might actually only be 37. Or he/she might be 41.
Why does it matter? 1 in 8 babies is now born prematurely. There are STAGGERING health care costs and ongoing medical problems associated with this trend. Even babies born at 38 weeks--even the ones that seem totally healthy at birth--have been shown to have more long-term health care costs and problems than babies born at 40 weeks.
And one of the reasons that so many people are having their babies early is because people are scheduling C-sections and inductions early.
Unless your doctor tells you that there is an honest-to-God medical reason to take your baby early, I think you should reconsider your date. And you doctor will have read the same study, so my guess is they will think long and hard before agreeing with you.
But who knows? Maybe you'll get your wish. I know those last weeks of pregnancy are tough...

I know wanted mine earlier( 1 week) but my doc would not do it because the baby is still growing up to the date that it comes and it is better to get that growth while in side than out. Because their lungs are the last thing to actually mature so the longer inside the better chance of lung development for the baby. But my daughter decided to come two weeks early and she had a tiny hole in her lung but the doc said the is really common in C- Section when child is born early. So I would talk with you doc and get all the facts on having a baby early and what affects it could have on the child when born early. Every baby is different so you may be fine but just think of the consequences that it might have one the baby first.

I was going to have a planned c-section with my 2nd pregnancy and I was told they wouldn't do it more than 7 days before my due date, but all doctors are different. Some OBs will only do planned ones on certain days so they can be in their practice for other patients too

Doctors won't give you a c section just because that's the way you want it. it is an emergency kinda thing , so the chance of you having that baby on may 11 ( which is my due date !!! ) is highly unlikely. sorry Hun !

YES THE DOCTOR SHOULD AGREE AS LONG AS HE OR SHE IS AVAILABLE AT THAT TIME. I WAS DUE ON JULY 13TH. MY C-SECTION WAS PLANNED FOR JULY 2ND. MY CHOICE, BECAUSE THE DOCTOR WAS AVAILABLE FOR THAT DAY.
