The person who played Pat was a woman. I have seen an interview with the stars of SNL. I believe that they do not want you to know what Pat really is. But in my opinion it's a woman.

the week snl was hosted by harvey kietel he did a pat skit in the skit him and pat were deserted on an island and they kissed. When they kissed pats head dipped back and down a little just as most females do. So based on that skit that is the best proof you will get on pats gender and that would have to be female.

According to the Wikipedia, Julia Sweeney (the SNL actress who created and played Pat) recently admitted that Pat is indeed probably a woman....

Sorry to burst everyone's bubble.

I remember watching It's Pat the movie a long time ago late at night, and from what I remember, it was revealed Pat is a woman. But it is official that Pat is a woman, I just forget when they said it.

You are not supposed to know. Did you see the episode where Pat's partner, Chris, is on? Chris had long blonde hair and was also a big question mark as to sex. There is absolutely no answer, that's why it was funny.

My personal opinion is that it (haha, it) was an efeminate man with man boobs, but i may be mistaken. but the entire point of the skit was to not let you know either way. thats what made it funny.
