Theres no way you can through your account unless you add him to it and make the account joint.
Try a cheque cashing service, most towns have one but they will charge you about 5-10% of the cheque.

The crossing on a cheque, two verticle lines, are instructions to the bank cashing the cheque. There may be instructions within the two lines but if not, they still mean 'Not negotiable, Account Payee only' - meaning, not transferrable, to be paid into an account in the name of the payee (the name on the cheque). Your bank may, at their discretion, if he signs the back of the cheque allow it to be paid into your account...............

there are 2 ways to it
1. Get it cashed at the cheque for cash, but the charges is killing
2. there is what they call "3rd party arrangement" which means you can pay any cheque into your a/c, but you need to set this up with your bank and credibility is involve din this type of arrangement

he needs to open a joint account with you because you have the account its very easy he just needs two ids say passport and driving liscence if he has only one bring a bill in with his address within last 3 months and if you go with him its done then and cheque is lodged and then a few weeks later he gets card and pin if he wants to open his own account thats fine too same as before id and fill in a form to apply.
