for things done in the past just because i am white?
there are a few people who think because their ancestores were slaves that the entire white race of today should be held responsible. my ancestors were not involved in the slave trade and never owned any slaves. so why should i be condemed for slavery? or is this just reverse racism?

NO, you are not responsible for any one's past wrong doings. alot of what is being deemed racism is really due to economic circumstances. Being a certain race doesn't mean you're going to get a lousy education, (not studying does), you're not declined loans because of your race,( your declined loans cuz your credit is bad), you don't live in a bad neighborhood becuz your of your race, you live in a bad neighborhood cuz you can't afford any better. You're not declined admission into colleges becuz of your skin color, your denied becuz you don't meet the academic standards. Certain people push the race card, failing to realize that the circumstances thy're blaming on their race (ie; poverty, high crime rates, sub standard housing, financial instability) have alot more to do with how much you have in your wallet than how dark your tan may be. What absolutely kills me is how race is blamed on an individuals failure to make the right choices.

I do believe in "reverse" racism, but let's face it: racism is racism. There is a black woman that works at my doctor's office and she is INCREDIBLY rude to white people, and nice to the blacks. THAT is racism.
I don't think that people that are alive now should be held responsible for what happend over 100 years ago. Yes it was very unfortunate, but so was the Holocaust, and you don't often see Jews blaming the current residents of Germany.
The world will never evolve if we can't forget the past and keep getting pissed off.

youre right, its a bit of payback... though on the wrong people. most whites are much less racist today, than many other races. I have asian friends of different descent, and they all talk about how some dont like others, and so on. Its something that will always be there in some form, because people dont know how to handle those who are different

I certainly wish this generation in america would please let go of the whole black / white thing though, its so old. I was born in 1980! Give me a break!

Gosh, this question is one of the most asked questions around here.....OY!
Who is condemning YOU?
The only thing I see are people trying to get same opportunities as everyone else, and that includes WOMEN ( whose ancestors were slave or NOT), hispanics ( whose ancestors weren't slaves), handicapped ( again, ancestors or NOT) ....
NOw, do you think all those groups are condemning you for slavery?
Racism is everywhere so don't think you're the only one who has to deal with it.....

It was something that happened that was very regretable, it was horrific. And I'm sure it should not be forgotten. But anyone with a modicum of sense will realise, that you personally are not responsible.

The whole slave thing is old.

How can you buy a slave, if they aren't first for SALE?

My people owned one, but in his will he left her many things and wrote that she was to be sold to the Owner of her choice. Meaning she got to pick her own Owner.

reverse racism, its ridiculous, we all make our own choices for how we are going to live today. I don;t blame my mom for the choices i make about what i do in my day to day life, its no ones fault but my own if i make bad choices.

why read so far into it... u have a valid point and you are obviously a deep thinker..... but if we all thought that way we'd all be constantly angry. i do hate stereotyping people or being stereotyped but we all do it!! people shouldnt be so quick to prejudge

Everybody has got to have someone to blame for their problems...Nobody ever seems to take resonsibility for themselves, it's so much easier to blame others....
