You should be protected from pregnancy now, but you will not be protected from STDs.

Sure you can.

But doing so will expose you to a higher risk of getting pregnant, or catching a sexually transmitted disease. No birth control method is perfect, so using 2 methods will reduce your chances even further.

The birth control pill will not protect you from the STDs. If your partner is at at any risk for having an STD, you should use the condom as well.

yes, you can... if you are taking birth control, properly, at the same time, not missing pills, you should be protected from getting pregnant. However, nothing is fool proof, there's still that .1% chance that you'd get prego. I applaud you for being so cautious. You seem very responsible, responsible enough to make that call for yourself. Just keep in mind that a condom protects better against STD's....... If you're not in a serious relationship, keep up the condoms.

Slow down honey How long term can it be if you are only 18.. Men generally have a one track mind and will say anything if the end result is intercourse. Our generation is quick to experiment with sex and multiple partner is very common. Do you really want to risk a VD just so you can feel warm skin. Think twice. You have already given away the ONLY thing that is truly yours, your virginity is NOT something you can get back, and with that virginity always goes a piece of your heart. Be true to you,if he is the one please practice safe sex until you know for sure that he is faithful and is clean. HIV can lay dormant for 8 years. Talk to your DR.
PLEASE

I was on Ortho Cyclen birth control pill for 8 years and had sex with my husband without any other protection and I never got pregnant on the pill. I took it every night around the same time.

I think doctors say you should be protected after a month or two of taking it. I'd check with your doc on the exact amount of time though.

I would definitely wait until after your next menstrual period and then go for it. I take it you are in a relationship? Because if not, you should always use protection to avoid getting an STD. Also, for some women, the pill does not work. It is not 100% effective. But Hey- it works for me. Good Luck!

Your risk of pregnancy at this point is very low but your risk of STD's or HIV will be very high without the use of a condom if you aren't in a stable trusting relationship, and if this concern use the condom or be mutually tested.

Absolutely, when I started to take the pill my doctor told me to give it a week before having unprotected sex and I was on the pill for 6.5 years and never got pregnant. You should be more than good now.

No method of birth control is 100 % effective. But the chances of you getting pregnant are slim even without a condom if you are regularly taking your BC.

The little information paper/booklet that comes with the pills is there for a reason. Read it and you will know your answer!
But pills are never 100%. If you absolutely don't want to get pregnant, than continue using a condom, plus you need it for STD's anyway!

After one month of proper use (same time EVERY day), then no, you are protected against pregnancy. Keep the condom if you are worried about stds
