I remember once when we were hunting for christmas trees back way long ago when i was like 9 or 10, there was this wire that went around a big tree, and I asked dad what it was and he said it was an electrical wire to keep the animals away from the tree, I asked him if it was on and he said it wasn't, but I could check it with my finger so I did and I was standing in this big mud puddle... when I came too I had to change my pants, man was my mom mad at him....

Yes, all you were doing was being a 9 year child asking questions. I would be so mad my husband if he ever did that to our son. We are taught at a very yound age to ask questions in order to learn how the world and life work. He was wrong to do such a mean thing to an innocent child, shame on him.

Don't believe you....sounds like you made it up.
Christmas tree farms don't have live wires where people can touch them...nor are the trees protected by live wires in the woods....

I think he taught you a valuable lesson with a practical demonstration. Electric fences only carry very low voltages so aren't really harmful otherwise you'd have lots of dead cattle.

I remember when I was a boy and one of my friends asked me the same question. I told him to pee on it. Now you should have seen HIM jump!

No he wasnt being cruel or mean , he in all reality didnt know if it was on or not but assumed it wouldnt be , he did however use poor judgement as a parent for letting you ''check it '' . But if poor judgement now and again were a crime we all would be in jail .

Yes your dad was cruel, that's not even funny and for him to think it was, he needs some serious help. I'm always up for a good joke but not one like that.

Yes! unless he actually thought it was off. But if he did it deliberately he must be insane...what father likes to see his child get hurt?
