No do not uninstall hotfixes unless you just installed it and are having a problem because of it.

You can download TweakUI from Microsoft. https://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx
It gives you the ability to hide them if it is really that awful to look at.

FYI; Many of them get removed from the list when you install a service pack. So if you don't have the latest service pack on (SP2 for Windows XP) first off, you should. And second it might clean things up a little. You can install it through Windows Update under the Tools menu in Internet Explorer.

I wouldn't uninstall them if I were you. Plus, it doesn't matter how many files you have, but what programs take up the most space. You can look at that, and then decide which programs you want to get rid of, but don't uninstall any updates or Hotfixes.

Do not uninstall updates/hotfixes. These are security fixes and whatnot for Windows...if you uninstall them they will just have to reinstall again anyway. Remove anything else that you don't need.

You can (I think) select to NOT see Windows updates. I would NEVER, EVER uninstall a hotfix... no telling what your computer might do.

If you uninstall it... it's gone

You can. But be prepared to move from Windows to Linux
