My son flushed a plastic toy cell phone down the toilet. The toilet appears to be functioning properly, but I am concerned with it being lodged in the pipes. It there somewhere I can check along the drain line to see if it is stuck. My house is only a few years old and out toilets are hooked up to the sewer.

Try the simple route first. Flush huge amounts of toilet paper repeatedly down the drain. If it keeps flushing after many tries then there is nothing in the toilet itself and the toy went into the drain. Drains are much larger pipes so the toy will probably flow right into the city drains. But, if the commode starts to fill up after a while and flush very slowly then the toy in the the commode trap and catching the paper and slowly blocking the drain and will need to be snaked out. The paper itself will eventually dissolve but the toy will have to be removed.

It is probably OK if it seems to working fine now. To make sure it has washed away to the sewer you will need to get a "snake" which you can rent at most rental yards. They come in different lengths but about five footer should be long enough for your situation. There very easy to use, just ask someone where you rent it, and I can't imagine it being more than $20 a day.

I sometimes want to throw my cell phone down the toilet too.

Good news: As long as the toy has cleared the water trap on the toilet, you're OK.

Bad news: The only way to find out is to snake your toilet to make sure there is no obtrussion.

Just because it flushes now it doesn't mean it's OK. It's when you flush with something in it that you have to worry.

Good luck.

Go to the Home Improvement store and buy a CLOSET AUGER.Follow erections. It will either pull it out or push it down the line. There should be a clean-out somewhere, where you can access to it.It may also be trapped in the toilet itself. If "solids" are going down with no problem,It may have been small enough that it was carried down the line.If it wasn't more than 3" wide,or 3" long, you should be all right.

You can put your hand up into the toilet trap. There is a trap that holds water in the toilets. If it is only stucck in the toilet that is no problem, if it gets further along in the pipes that could cost you more.

it depends on how big that toy was i can bet you that you are going to end up having to take the toilot up and snake it to get it out of the pipes, cuz sooner or later its going to clog. i dropped a little lid like an asprin top doown ours and that is what we ended up doing. It may seem like it is working now but the more toilot paper you put down there the bigger the clog is going to get pretty soon the toliot paper wont even go down.

Flush it 100 times, if everythig is ok don't worry about it.

If it is clogged, plunger, snaking, plumber, in that order.

If its not broke, don't fix it.
