Hi im not a Goth but i just want to know why it is that i love what the Goths wear. I can be looking on a clothing website for Goths and find loads of things I would deffinatly wear. Yet when i look in high street shops and catalogues. I cant find anything i like really like as i know that with normal Fashion i would have to match this with this and that with that. Yet with Goth it is individuality. Do you think i am a Goth at heart ? and where can i request a free Gothic clothing magazine.

I am a 37 year old Goth, and I am not fat and old and don't wear dark, drab, ugly stuff as notyou311 states.

Be who you want to be, we are not sad and we are not drab. Goth are not all hoodies, black greasy hair and tatty jeans and buckles. I wear fishnets, stiletto boots, lace and alot of basques and sexy stuff, vampish and romantique things, but also ordinary everyday clothes....its not drab and boring at all.

Go where you heart leads you. and if you want to do it....then just DO IT

Who cares what people think anyways...We are not meant to like everything

Goth is what you want it to be.You don't have to be into the music, the social scene, or death icons. It is generally characterised by individuality and self expression. Goths are not sheep, You can mix and match without fear.

I wear black, purple, silver, and heels but I'm not into the music or the some of the other stuff. I would probably class myself as Goth in appearance much of the time. I'm 31 by the way so you don't have to be young to be Goth either!

If you have that individuality and little worry about conformance then you sound Goth in outlook to me :)

I didn't answer about the clothing magazine because I'm not sure where in the world you are, but I'd suggest online like you've already seen.

Are you just totally into the black clothing that tends to define Goth or do you truly love that anything goes? Because you can dress in clothing from "fashion" stores but just mix and match to suit you like they did in the late 70's & 80's, it was called "punk" and it works well to show a unique sense of style without people thinking you are morbid for always wearing only black.

If you like the clothes, wear them! I'm not a "goth" but I wear clothes you would probably say are gothic. I listen to metal music, and I guess it reflects in my clothes, but that's just me. I seriously recommend that you see a top you like - buy it. They're a nice pair of trousers - get them! Don't go for the whole image change overnight, besides you probably couldn't afford a whole new wardrobe. It'll only make your friends think you're vain and just desperate to be noticed. A few of my favourite places : www.emp.de (german), www.hottopic.com, afflecks palace (manchester alternative shopping centre) www.ebay.co.uk (obvious but you can find some great stuff)

Clothes don't make the goth, so the fact that you want to "be goth" just by wearing the gothic clothing means you are not a goth at heart. You just love the style associated with 'goth.'

I say wear whatever you want to wear! Regardless of what other kinds of people have similar dress sense. It's just boring to dress to fit in and look the same as everyone else.. I disagree with people having to keep buying the new season's fashion, only to replace it in a few months time. If you like a piece of clothing you like a piece of clothing regardless of how it fits in fashion wise!

Goth is a state of mind, and judging by that pretty, flowery, cheerful avatar I'm guessing that you really aren't in the mindset.

what is a goth anyway? Do they worship death. I think people who are goth are very insecure, wierd and pale people. Sorry I just don't get it, times are changing to fast for me and I can't keep up. Good luck with whatever you decide, you will figure it out.
