Politicians are the last resort of a scoundrel. Unfortunately Buddha happens to be from a different clan and hence has been excused in getting a dubious recognition

Gandhi is the Father of the Nation because he helped get independence for India. This is a political movement. Buddha created a religion and has almost nothing to do with the formation of the country, India. So, he can't be called the Grandfather of the Nation.

The politicians will make a hue and cry.
The first to do so would be Congress and BJP, as the
name of Lord Buddha has already been hijacked by
Miss. Mayawati, as her religious & Party ICON.
The Samajwadi party will jump in the well of
Parliament, to ensure that the same is not done.
SPs' permanent enemy is Miss. Mayawati.
Lefts' do not believe in Gods and religion,
so they will also raise their voice against it.
The muslims will not accept any religious
leader as grand father of the nation.
