My father is also getting married this next June. I don't want to have to stress him out over this too.

My bf knows that I want to wait until I'm done with school. But I like the thought of being with him for the rest of my life. I want to tell him that we should get engaged, but wait until i'm done with school to decide on a date. That is what I mean by a long engagement.

Just tell him that you want to get married but you want to finish school first. If you don't already live together you may want to do that first because things change at that point. Good luck and best wishes.

You sound as though marriage is not in your plan just yet. You 2 are still young and that you said you've been dating for 3yrs..so which mean you two were in high school.

You need to date other people first to see if you two are truly meant for each other. So my advice to you is ...go for what you want...from the looks of the question you posted sounds like you don't want to get married..do what's in your heart and what you feel is right...getting married to soon and being hesitant about it would only lead you to have resentmeant for your b/f and for marriage that wasn't ment to be...be young and free...

Good Luck

Finish school first! Don't rush into anything. If he loves you he will respect your wishes! If it's meant to be waiting won't ne a problem! Your education is very important and you should get that out of the way before you start a family!

You are both very young and have a lot of time ahead of you before making such a huge commitment. If you both really want to get married a little more time won't hurt to wait until you are both ready i.e. finishing school etc.

Your still both young+ Your education is more important, Take one step at a time,I rather wait then rush into getting married then later be sorry that it did'nt work out .Besides you got plenty of time, If he loves you he should be able to understand that.

Very mature and responsible of you. Sounds like you have your head on strait. But does he? Find out and simply tell him how you prefer to do things to ensure a better future for you both. If he has a problem with that then there's your sign that he's not ready for you. Move on. Good luck.

Yes please wait. If your not really really compleately coompletely, and deep down in your heart sure of this it could be a horrible mistake.
You could hurt a lot of people, or you could be hurt so bad that it may not heal.
Just wait.
Tell him you need to finish school first. If he does not see what is important to you as important to him then he really is the wrong guy to marry.

After 3 years I'd think that you could have an honest and truthful conversation with your partner.

Just tell him what's on your mind. You're overthinking things.

You just need to talk to him about this. You might be surprised to find out he has the same thoughts as you.
