I have microfiber "throw" pillows that sit on my couch. My boys have coughed, sneezed and got them full of germs when they were sick. How do I wash this type of a pillow? It is not a zipper style either.

on TV i heard them say you can wash them but never use any fabric softener on them as its kind of like an abrasive and will destroy the microfibers.

I recently purchased a microfiber couch that they give you a special "cleaner" for. Maybe you can go to your local furniture store to see if they carry a cleaner that is similar. I would hesitate on washing the pillows in a standard washing machine, but possibly using a damp rag and some spray on or dab on cleaner.

Don't wash the whole pillow in the washing machine. You could clean them using a cloth dampened in ammonia and water, or basically "shampoo" them as you would a rug. Mix a little dish soap and water, and then whip up a lot of suds with a whisk or by squeezing a sponge repeatedly. Use just the suds to clean the fabric. Afterwards, go over it with a damp sponge rinsed in clean water.

You know. I want to say that you cannot... and If I had them, I would not... but yes, you can wash them but they will never be the same after you wash and even fluff dry them.. You could dry clean them.. a bit pricey perhaps but that is the ONLY GOOD way to clean them.. Also.. I think that I would buy zippered covers so I can just wash the covers instead.

I know that a number of places that clean pillows by taking them apart and washing the covers. Usually it is a church or organisation project. Otherwise, you might consider shampooing them like a carpet or furniture.

You can't, you can only spot clean them.
If it's not a spot, you can hose them down with Lysol and hang them to dry outside on a bright sunny day. They'll be like new again.
