This rumor has been floating around for a while. I know the Washington Post did a story about it. (Sorry, I don't know how to post links, and truthfully, I don't remember much about whether the story was for or against it) Do you think it would be a good or a bad idea?

I think they should be phased out over time. It currently costs the US Mint 1.4 cents to coin them. I believe I read that the savings would be in the high hundreds of millions per year. Just round everything to the nearest nickel. And there are plenty in circulation already. It would take many years before they were completely out of circulation.

some states do no longer use the penny. It does not require a restucturing of the financial device to around to the nickel. A penny expenses greater desirable than a penny to produce. it is stupid. If the nickel is eradicated, then we around to the dime. i think of my 2d grader could look after it. F.Y.I., those people in engineering, the defense force, avaition, technology, and so on. have been utilising the metric device for years. it is not a remote places language. My 2d grader has a working awareness on that front, too.

Yes, it's become obsolete. In fact it's impracticle and cost more to make than it's worth.
