I really like: TEXAS!!!!!, Oklahoma, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia. Could qualify as the friendliest states in America, especially TEXAS.

I can do without: Kentucky!!!!!, West Virginia, Virginia, Florida, Arkansas. They have good people and qualities, but they're not as friendly as open as the rest of the South.

(I've traveled the U.S., and the top 3 worst experiences I've had w/ the service industry have been in Kentucky. The rest of the South is great on that front.)

rhodes727: You hit the nail on the head! Texans are nice; Florida people can't drive at all. Kentucky, Ohio, and Atlanta drivers are pretty bad, also.

Since I have chosen my native state of (clap, clap, clap, clap) Texas for my retirement home, you can guess which one I like best. I can do without Arkansas. Any state that will not keep its roads repaired and also produced Billyboy Clinton......well, you figure it out.

North Carolina, South Carolina, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia are the friendliest states in America? I think not.

Think about this - the south had a culture of slavery. How friendly is that?!? Enslaving your fellow man has to be about the rudest and most unfriendly act committed by people.

In 1860, there were 6.4 million free people and 3.7 million slaves living in the south. That is one slave for every 1.7 free people! Incredibly unfriendly. Unless southern mentalities regarding their fellow man have changed 180 degrees (unlikely), the south is extremely unfriendly.

I haven't been to all of them. I favor Texas since I spent most of my life there. I like Louisiana also, I guess because the part of Texas I was in was very close to Louisiana. I think Virginia is absolutely beautiful. I don't really have anything bad to say about any state.

Georgia always has a stench from all of the paper mills .
Louisana and Mississippi are just swamps .
The rest of them are o.k. , Kentucky at least has some large hills , they are not quite mountains yet . Florida has Mickey Mouse and beaches .
