Powell on Bush's plans:
"To redefine Common Article 3 would add to those doubts. Furthermore, it would put our own troops at risk.”

Yeah, were was Powell when we needed him to do the right thing for the country before the Iraq War. now he wants to repent for selling his soul but I don't care what he says because he sold out the USA to stay loyal to a two bit thief.

It was time. Powell was a great General and Stateman. He did what every American Soldier would do, and that is stand loyal to their boss. Now, since Powell did not seek the 2d term, and time has gone by, he is now exercising his opinion and rightfully so. General Powell, General Franks, General Clark, and a few more regardless of their political party warned President Bush on the risk for a long and dug in war on terrorism. What is interesting are some recent events:

1. The President of Iraq visiting the President of Iran!
2. The highest judge declaring in the court room that Saddam was not a dictator!
3. Senate investigation finding no evidence of Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq or any link to Saddam and Al Queda!
4. Al Queda and the Taliban are fighting together!
5. Al Queda's second in command recently announcing targets in the middle-east not Iraq and Afghanistan, and Israel!
6. Opium harvest brought millions of dollars to terrorist...and of course more drugs on our streets in America.

These recent events are really saying something...at least to me anyway!

There will be more exposure of the President in the next months, that is a for sure thing. How he handles it...well I guess we will have to see!

Powell was made to look like a decenter from day one by rumsfeld and cheney because he didn't tow the party line by speaking the truth about the needless war with Iraq. i myself don't think it is right for our government to take prisoners to other counties and torture them there and then act like we had nothing to do with it. that's ok to do but a few army personnel takes some graphic pictures and it lands them in jail? that sounds like we are trying to whitewash our image when the whole world knows the truth. Powell was a great general but when it came to politics i think he didn't want to play the 'game" so they are trying to use him as a scape goat. i applaud him for trying to get the truth out. we need more people in power that will stand up for what is right.

I've always liked Powell. I liked him just as much yesterday as I do today. He's disagreed with the President before. He agrees with him sometimes too.

Doesn't change my opinion. I have always had alot of respect for Powell. He was also a voice against going into Iraq. Obviously, he's out now since he wasn't a lacky.

Well, for one, the article is clearly biased. It's America, and Powell does have the right to disagree with Bush. Moreover, Powell is nobody now, and McCain has never been a Republican, so this article saying that the Reps are divided is bogus-bogatah, so I wouldn't start creamin my pants just yet, Libby.

Powell is not even a real black man.

What does he know about fighting.

Bushler had Karen Hughes make all the war plans and now all the old Generals are jealous.

Go big Red Go

I have a lessened opinion of Colin Powell. Powell was a good general and one hell of a speaker but he is not the end all be all.

Wow, that is one of the most impressive twisting of words I have ever seen. Powell did not say anything close to what you are saying. I am in awe. Did you write that question with a straight face, or were you laughing out loud?

Neither - he's an honorable man who's served his country well and he's offering his considered opinion on an important topic.

Whether or not I personally agree with him is something else.
