Bleach is your best bet. If you have washed normally with bleach, you might do better if you soak the coats in a strong bleach solution. Read the label on the bleach bottle to be safe, but I use about half a cup per gallon of hot water.

This method isn't recommended, but I sometimes do it if the garment is really going to be useless with the stain: wet the item thoroughly with water. Mix up a little bit of bleach solution that's about 4-1, water to bleach. Carefully pour or dab the bleach mixture onto the stain and keep an eye on it. As soonas the stain fades, rinse it right away. Then wash normally.

I think I know what you mean.. those reddish, rusty stains in the coats.. If you have tried bleach, I know of NOTHING else that would do it.. Leaving the coat in a water/clorox bleach over an extended period of time would be the only way.

once the clothing has been put through a dryer it is very hard or impossible to remove stains as the heat will set them
- try Coke-A-Cola - I have been able to get some of my daughters clothes (from the restaurant/bar/casino) clean by soaking in coke for a couple of hours and then washing w/bleach
