yes it should of been called, and even if the ref didn't see the incident Campbell sees all the action in the office in Toronto and he should of made at lest a decision and suspended him for at lest 2 games. heck he high stick-ed 3 others in the same series after almost taking Koivu's eye out he hit Markov, Rivet and then Sourray and he only been called on one penalty and that was on Sourray. but Koivu has been skating and he will not start the season but he will be in the line-up soon, and he will have a surgery on the eye at the end of the season, that just came out in the press in Montreal.

GO HABS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was an accident. It was not intentional. Saku Koivu getting injured was the turning point of the series and that's the reason they lost to the Hurricanes. I'm not happy too since I'm a Habs fan but it was not intentional.
Nothing to worry about since the team's much better than they were last year.
Go HABS go.

That was months ago. get over it. Yeah, he should have gotten a two-min penalty...no, a five...would that make you feel better? Justin gets five and Koivu is still half blind. That's fair.

It had a huge impact because Gainey as a GM sucks. The Habs have no backup stars and they are all midgets. Even now, why sign Samsonov? He looked bad in the playoffs with Edm and they decide to sign him. Where have you gone John Ferguson? They need some toughness to battle in the playoffs and protect guys like Koivu.

I think a person's got to put their confidence in the judgment of the refs in a thing like that.

If it had been intentional on Williams' part I don't think he'd have called all around to get Koivu's cell phone # and called him in the hospital yet that night or the next morning, and according to what Koivu said, really apologized profusely and felt genuinely bad about it, as Koivu said he did, if you believe Koivu.

It's like with Marian Hossa's stick a few years ago with Berard's eye - looking at the video, it seemed like Hossa inadvertently got him with it. And 99% of everybody in hockey then was like, that's the end of Berard's career. I don't believe Hossa got a penalty from that, but it was years before Hossa was again the sort of player he was before the accident. It really affected that guy too.

For example, Bertuzzi - that guy is extremely lucky to be in the league at all. That's a different story altogether.

It was an accidental stick. This from the most rabid Habs fan of all time. However the same player did almost the same thing to Zednic the next night. That in my opinion should have been 4 minutes he drew blood.I think it more than coincidental that the same player highsticked two in a row.I am also convinced that the cup winner was a foregone conclusion.Everyone wants to beat Montreal.

Why are you still whining over something that happened over three months ago. Justin Said he was sorry. What did they do, do surgery on Saku eye. Now he cant play or something. Get over it!

Things like that happen in hockey. Its hockey. Erik Cole got his neck broke and nobody was crying or whining about it. iTS A SAD THING BUT THERE IS NO NEED IN CRYING ABOUT
IT!

Yall wouldnt be crying if it wont a player from montreal. What if Saku sticked Justin. Yall probably would say he deserved it.

it was three months ago that this happened. you can't make a referee penalize something he did not see. it was unfair he did not get penalized even if it was unintentional. i think it threw off montreal's game when kouvu was injured. i can understand how you feel becuz there are lots of incidents like that that never penalized regardless if they were unintentional. i think montreal will rip the canes to shreds if they use the anger they have as a motivation to win. emotions can be a great tool to use for motivation to win. detroit used their emotions to win on march 26 1997 when mccarty beat the tar outta claude lemieux and it fired the team up and they beat the avs.

i dont like the montreal candiens because of the fans. They think they know everything. And have to complain about everything bad that happens to the canadiens. Things happen in hockey. Erik Cole broke his neck, Todd Bertuzzi broke somebodies neck. People get hit in the face with stickes all the time. Get broken arms and legs. What is the difference with a Montreal canadien player.

Should he have been given a penalty? Yes. It may have been an accident (which is why he was not and should not have been suspended), but he's still responsible for his stick.

Did the ref see it? No.

It was inadvertent in the opinion of the referee and tacitly, the league. It was an unfortunate accident.
