What does the law say about another person opening your snail mail?

it is a federal offense and there is jail time and a big fine. talk with the sheriffs office about it.

Well technically it's a federal offense, but I don't see the problem; if someone wants to open my mail, they can go ahead and pay my bills, too!

No can do. It's Federal offense, even if it's junk mail and not in the mail box.
