YES PLEASE! Could we at least leave it until after firework night, which would be a nice opening to the festive season.

the best way to stop this from happening so early is to tell them about it and if they don't listen let it affect their bottom line. This would take several years to occur but would eventually make them change their policy regarding when to display such seasonal items. Personally, I think true christian Christmas should be celebrated in September which is more likely when Jesus was actually born and it should be a personal, non-commercialized event. December 25th was chosen by the Roman Catholic church to coincide with the Pagan festival of lights. Many "christian" holidays were made to be on or near "pagan" holidays to make it easier for them to practice the new religion after sometimes forced conversion. But that is another discussion for a different forum. Good luck changing retail.

Is this the land of the free or not? Why do we need a law for everything? If you disapprove of a store display do not shop there. It might help to speak with the manager too, but why do we need another law? Why do so many need the government to solve every problem? They are so bad at solving problems yet we continue to beg them for answerer's. Hawaii had a problem with gas prices so they passed a law to put a cap on the prices and the oil companies simply raised their prices to the cap and kept them their. Hawaii's gas prices became the highest and stayed there. The law was a complete failure and was revoked. There are more examples of bad laws than good ones. If you do not like something as simple as store decorations why do we need to get greedy law makers involved? It will only result in higher prices somehow.

There's nothing that can be done to stop shops from promoting Christmas soo early. I work in a store and I agree that all stores should wait until mid-november before putting up and type of decorations.
I'm sure you might not be as annoyed with it though if they started their christmas sales at the same time as they start putting up the decorations.

I think there should be law that says shops should only be alllowed to promote Xmas from Dec 1st. I hate Christmas in September. By the time it comes along I am so sick and tired of it. There are plenty of festivals before Xmas like Hallowe'en, Bonfire Night (UK) Diwali, which I think the hyping of Xmas earlier and earlier completely ruin. We can show our disapproval by not buying anything for xmas until xmas eve. By this time they will be so desperate that everything will be dirt cheap and they wont make their expected profits. Hitting them in the pocket is the only way.

I agree with the person who said it's time to put on your big girl pants.
Just because you don't like something, theres no reason to start making laws. Part of this countrys problem is all these random laws we try to bring about. We should be smart enough to stay away from what we don't like or mature enough to just ignore it. I don't like that stores play crappy music while I shop. Should I contact someone about making a law that says only certain types of music should be allowed? No, I just deal with it and move on.
No need to start forcing everyone to do what you want.

yes! I work in a shop and have to put with a warehouse full of Christmas stock from September right out until Christmas, and then you have all the sale stuff after Christmas for about 2 months so all in all I have to put up with Christmas for 6 months!

No you can't stop anyone from putting Christmas stuff in their store. They could have Christmas stuff all year if they wanted to. I agree it is annoying. The Christmas stuff comes out way too early. Can we get past Halloween and Thanksgiving first?

Hey Lib, call the ACLU, they'll be more than happy to help you *****, and litigate against Christmas. Here's a tip. Put on your big girl pants, and deal with it! Most of us like seeing the Christmas decorations in the stores. But hey, Lib, it's all about YOU, right?

"if not what can we do to show our dissaproval?"
Don't buy any Christmas gifts until December. That's how. If enough people do that the shops will get it eventually.
