I am 35 and 1/2 weeks along now my doctor sent me for an ultrasound because I am not gaining any weight. The test showed that my afi is at 8.4. So now I am scheduled for another ultrasound and have to get stress tests done 2 times a week. Which I went to my first one today and every thing was fine. Anyhow what are my chances that the baby will be taken early whether by induction or c-section? Any one have any idea or have been through this themselves? I am a nervous wreck even though I know my baby will be ok if born now.

They said the amniotic fluid is in the danger zone if it reaches 5. This is my concern more than anything. Because like I said b4 mine is at 8

my sister in law has the same problem currently, they most likely wont take the baby early unless they feel its neccesary for your health and the babys health. As long as the baby is still steadily gaining weight and growing fine then they will let you go on with your pregnancy. If not then they may reccomend putting you on a special diet to help you with gaining weight, or atleast that is what they have done with her. They were telling her that they may take the baby if the baby doesnt grow, but if not they are going to let her go ahead with her pregnancy until the babys ready. They dont usually take them early unless its neccesary for the babys health.
They are doing extra ultrasounds on her as well, she is 34 weeks along. monitoring the baby..
As far as induction and cessarean I have been through both with my kids, induction isnt as bad as it looks its a little more rough than regular birth because it causes you to dialate at a faster pace and the contractions come on faster, in a less amount of time,... Both my labors were no more than 16 hours... With my second they induced me and I still couldnt have the baby so I had a cesarean, after three hours of pushing. Needless to say that the cessarean was less hard than actual birth , its painless, all you feel is a little bit of pressure when they pull the baby out. With a cessarean its harder to recover from than actual birth. It hurts afterwards and you are sore for a few weeks, You cant lift anything over ten pounds and cant do any heavy housework... The recovery process takes a little more time but trust me It will be worth it in the end, when you get to hold that little baby in your arms...
Dont worry, the doctors know what they are doing they wont let you go to long, if they feel that it would be dangerous to you or your baby.
Goodluck and take care

I'm also 35 weeks pregnant. Since the start of my pregnancy I have only gained 4 pounds. The rest of my body looks a lot thinner and I have dropped a dress size, but the baby has grown at an entirely normal rate. The midwife told me that it's probably down to the change in my diet. Previously I was a beer-swilling, take-away-eating monster, now I have a very healthy diet and avoid alcohol.
They're just being cautious, which is their job. Don't worry !

Any Doctor would rather let you go naturally if the stress tests turn out OK, the only times that the intervene is when they believe that the baby is in danger. Sometimes doctors seem to blow things out of proportion, with my daughter I was told she was under size and in danger. She turned out to be eight and a half pounds and totally healthy.
I know it is hard but try not to worry, if you have any other questions you can call a planned parenthood or pregnancy care clinic (which ever one is in your area). Good luck and happy pushing! :-)

Sounds like a normal routine to me. I had stress tests done and ultrasounds done just to make sure the baby wasn't over weight or too big. Wouldn't worry about it. You more than likely won't deliver early .

Your doctors are doing what they should be -- monitoring the situation. The more you stress, the harder it is on the baby. Try to calm down and know that you are being well taken care of. Sounds like you are receiving good medical care. It's all going to work out.

Good Luck & Best Wishes...
