Just 100 mil? There's evidence going back 5x further than that at least.

Fossilized evidence in Colorado that shows where it was at least 125 million years ago. Also, I know of no spot on the planet that shows of not being underwater at some point in its history, including Mount Everest!

Also, 251 million years ago, the oceans were thought to be the cause of the die out of almost 98% of the animals on the earths surface from (this is the Permian Period die off). When it was thought the surface of the waters allowed gases to surface and strip the oceans of oxygen, and thus the atmosphere.
