I had a sinking feeling all along as soon as I started to realized that I hated Lukas as much as I hated JD from INXS that Supernova was going to pick him. But I'm really tired of investing so much energy into a show that never turns out the way I want. Why lead us on and pretend that you're going through a selection process when it was obvious that it was Lukas from the beginning? Every time any other contestant made a comment about them being "the one".. what did they do? Pan to Lukas to catch his reaction. The commercial break before they announced the winner was supposed to have been a Survivor promo but what do we see? Lukas singing. Did anyone else noticed how hacked Magni and Toby looked during the whole thing? I think Lukas spilled the beans that he was the choice and had been all along.

My theory is that EMI shopped Lukas to Supernova, who liked his stupid "pop punk edgy" look. TV corporate said why don't you "pick" him on Rockstar.. a whole summer long commercial!

also it is proof that no matter how well you do on the show it doesn't matter they have their guy picked from the beginning... lukas had quite a few crappy performances, was berated for his strained singing, his staring at the drummer during performance, his bad attitude...

magni was impeccable.. their RIDICULOUS reason they gave him when they sent him home "you look like a band member not the front man" WTF so he fit in too well??? that makes no sense.

clayfan you are not getting the point.... i am tired of shows PRETENDING to let the viewers pick something when we all really know that they will pick whoever they want and it's all just for publicity

Jason Newstead's former band, Metallica, had a hit entitled "For Whom The Bell Tolls". What transpired yesterday was, for all intents and purposes, the bell tolling the death of hard rock music as we know it. When Supernova chose Lukas Rossi to be the lead singer of their fledgling project they sent a loud and clear message to the world that style, boisterous antics, and pomposity trump singing ability, song writing talent, and a team oriented spirit - traits that the other contestants had plenty of.

I doubt seriously that Supernova's decision was solely based on voter turnout. I think they merely used that as an excuse to placate those, who having good taste, would have chosen Toby, Dilana, or Magni over the Tasmanian Devil. Supernova's decision was in a sense a microcosm of what is wrong with music today. They in essence capitulated to the new trend in music that is so predominate in our era. If you look drugged out, behave spastically, and have an aloof air about you, your chances of being a star are greater than if you are a normal person with outstanding instrumental virtuosity, great vocal range, and superb song writing ability.

The vocal brilliance of Robert Plant, Steve Perry, David Coverdale, and Freddie Mercury of yesteryear are now replaced by the whinny growls of angst ridden 20 somethings. The illuminating lyrics of U2, Pink Floyd, and the Police, that shed light on the human condition, are now supplanted by the nihilism and self-loathing of a breed of musicians who are too self-absorbed to speak of anything other than themselves. The phenomenal dexterity and melodic creativity of guitarists like Eddie Van Halen, Joe Satriani, and Jimmy Page are now marginalized in favor of no talent hacks that clumsily compose and perform every banal song with two or three cords.

Hard rock music is suffering from the same malady that our modern education system is suffering from - that of the tendency to dummy down everything to the lowest common denominator. Lucas Rossi's victory over a superior vocalist such as Dilana; his win over a much more creative song writer like Toby; and his being chosen over a much more versatile instrumentalist like Magni is direct proof that our music is in fact regressing along with many other facets of our society. It's no wonder that tripe like rap and hip-hop have pretty much monopolized the airwaves and topped the charts as of late. With the downfall of rock music being hastened with ascension of "artists" like Lukas, what else is left but to abandon the whole enterprise of music and revel in the mind numbing stupidity that is rap and hip-hop. There is a saying that states that all it takes for evil to prevail is for good people to do nothing. Similarly, the only thing that is required for rap and hip-hop to win the hearts and minds of youngsters is for "rock stars" not to live up to their name.

The sad thing is Tommy Lee, Jason Newstead, and Gilby Clark were all at the zenith of their careers when rock music was at its apex back in the late 70's and early to mid 80's. Yes hair and flare was popular back then as well, but there was something substantive and laudable during that time period when real musicians used rule the radio. It's sad that they have forgotten about their heyday, or have chosen to ignore it so they can sacrifice artistic integrity for business expedience. To choose that effeminate troll over three stellar musicians is repulsive. I don't care how profitable he might be in the short run.

It brings me comfort that so many people on this forum and others still look back on the old days of hard rock fondly. I hope Supernova's betrayal of the very fans that made each band member household names back in the 80s, will spell their own demise. I am looking forward to seeing their CDs in the discount bins at Walmarts and Targets around the country. I have been looking for some colorful coasters to rest my coffee mug on anyway. Who knows that crude, noisy, and juvenile alien that Supernova calls their lead vocalist can be used at Guantánamo or Abu Ghraib as a torture technique. Maybe Lukas' growl can be beneficial after all.

I am also disappointed with the outcome of the show. I for one was rooting for Dilana. She was the only one who caught my attention. It has been a long time since there has been a good female rocker and she fit the bill.
I guess we should have seen it coming. Like INXS last year, JD was already picked from day one. Grant it the major difference between JD and Lukas was the fact JD was in the bottom three more times than Lukas. Lukas was in the bottom three only once. It was also obvious with INXS they weren't going to pick a female since they were a male band from day one and they were going to stick to that format.
If Supernova had picked Toby or Dilana I would be buying their CD. Magni I would have considered too. But, Lukas, that is another issue. I have to admit I did like him in the beginning. Then as I watched him every week I didn't see any difference in his performances. The guy is stiff. Just the idea of watching for an hour and half to two hours of Lukas....hmm.

When they sent Magni packing I looked at my husband in shock. Then they announced that Toby was the next to go and we just wanted to turn off the tv at that point!!! We knew all along they were going to pick Lukas but just couldn't understand why. I think most people wanted it to be Magni or Toby and I think they will lose a lot of fans because they picked Lukas. He should be fronting a alternative band not a rock band. What a total let down and disappointment, I won't be buying a ticket to this show now.

I am totally disgusted with LUKAS as Supernova's choice. I was poised to buy a ticket to see Dilana front them, but will NOT buy a ticket now.

I too was really suspicious of that Survivor promo with Lukas singing in it.

His voice is different, but not one that i could listen to for an entire concert. I really think Supernova was sexist about their decision. They don't believe that a woman can rock as hard as a man. They said in the beginning that they were having trouble visualizing that. Dilana rocked MUCH harder than Lukas the punk rock troll.

I am still in shock.

I am not pissed, I am glad that they have Lukas. I wasn't a big fan of the band to begin with. I really liked nice guy Magni and even Ryan (for a little while) but I'm glad they didn't get stuck with the 3 monkeys. They will have a better career going solo.

It's hard to be upset that my favs (Dilana, Storm) didn't win when all the Supernova original songs were terrible. Storm had THE best original song and you could tell how much the guys (especially Tommy Lee) were digging it. If anything, the show gave these people a tremendous opportunity to kickstart a solo career. The band is not going to last past one album or tour anyways, at least not with Tommy on drums and Beavis, I mean Jason, on bass.

Lukas won, because he deserved too.
He has a certain rockstar persona that none of the others had.

As for all of you who thinks he is too "punk" for these "hard rockers" where have you all been for the last 10 years??

Tommy, played in Motley Crue...... a cock rock band
Jason played in Metallica who I believe (and all of their real fans sould back me up on this) sold out a few years back.
and who is Gilby Clark again?? Oh, yeah a fill in for Guns n Roses.
What I am trying to say here is that these guys aren't the "hard rockers" they used to be and are trying to come out with some fresh new stuff..rock or not.
Anyone else fronting this band would have looked out of place especially Magni, and as for Dilana "DRAMA" about sums it up.
The only person that I thought even had a chance against Lukas, was Toby, but the better man one.
Honestly.............now that you are all finished whinning about it, how many of you are mad because you didn't get tickets in time to see any of there sold out shows??

i know! lukas was like the worst from the four of them!!! but thats okay because of all the egos in supernova they are most likely to split up after like a record or two. Those 3 contestants are all gonna have solo carreers and beat supernova..or magni and toby could make a band!

Sweetheart, that's what reality tv is all about!! It's all fixed, it's all phony. It's unrealistic reality. Watch it for the music like I do. Of course the person you wanted to win didn't win, of course they had Lucas chosen from the beginning (whom I was cheering for, btw). If you're so disgusted by the whole process, then why do you torture yourself, knowing full-well what the outcome is not going to be? Do yourself a favor and try watching something else... stay away from reality tv - it doesn't seem to agree with you. It also sounds to me that you don't like the idea of two Canadians winning Rock Star back to back. Bitter? Sounds like it.

No way, Im not upset at all!! Lucas should have won and DID!! Ha Ha to all of you who said he didnt deserve to win. Some of you must not have listened too well. Lucas was not only the pick of the group but also was the favorite of the fans/viewers!!! Did you NOT hear that Lucas got the MOST votes of ANYBODY last night??? He was the best choice for frontman .....a close second was Toby....Magni is NO WAY a frontman! He could maybe play guitar....thats it! Way to go, Lucas....You ROCK!!!
