Fire_God will appreciate the irony. I bought Giant Size X-Men #1 when it first hit newstands for 50 cents. I was on my way home from school and only had a buck & could have bought a 2nd copy, but noooooo, I wasn't an X-Men collector, I preferred the Hulk. Besides, I was hungry. So I bought one copy and a Snickers bar. I thought the new X-Men were lame, and planned to trade it to my X-men fanatic friends.
Next day I traded my Giant-Size X-men #1 for Hulk #200 (which is worth around 5 bucks)
That great debacle aside, I still own Sub-Mariner #14

Wow. Apparently I'm a loser, as my most expensive single issue is the X-Men - Teen Titans crossover. I think I dropped around $20 on that at the time.
Most personal value is harder, probably my Secrets of the Legion 3 part story. Part two of three was the first comic book I ever read (found it under my mom's bed). Hooked me for life it seems.

I don't know how much they would be worth to someone else, but I have about 60 Star Trek original series comics, that were made shortly after the first two movies. Either way they're valuable to me.

I have lots, but my favorites are the first six original issues to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles autographed by Eastman and Laird, back in the days before they were famous and were struggling to win fans. They did a tour of all the comic shops that sold TMNT and I knew they were coming, so brought my issues for them to sign.
(I don't keep them at home, though. I have a secure storage location for all my collectibles-- safe, dry, with an alarm system AND guards. It helps when you have relatives working for a security company!)

I collected DC as a kid...alas the best is worth about 35 cents. :(
Seriously, I dunno. Collectors guides are lame. Ebay is the truth.
I do own the entire Crisis on Infinite Earth's series, and Teen Titans #1 (back in the day).
C-Man, you have my sympathies.
