I bought a sun rubber doll at an antique store last week and wonder about the age. It's in excellent condition aside from the sqeaker no longer working. It's a black doll and it looks like model # 53A. It's wearing red overalls. Made by TOD-L-TOT, the sun rubber company in Barberton. I know it was probably made in the 50's. Were many black dolls made? I've only seen white ones.

A Yahoo search for "vintage dolls" (include the quotation marks in the search box) yields 251,000 results. If you do the same search, and are willing to spend a little time exploring, I'm sure that you will quickly find the information you seek.

Good luck with your search.

You're right that Tod-L-Tot was made in the 50's, and while I've never seen a black one there are a few black Sun Rubber dolls from the same time period in ebay's completed auctions, so I guess it's not unheard of.

I'm not familiar with the doll you described but you can find info on antique dolls at www.dollreference.com/sun_rubber_dolls.
