If he keeps making excuses not to kiss you - you are probably tomorrows latest romantic casualty.
If he wants to talk to you for hours and thinks an evening away from you - even to see his mates, is a bit of a bummer - then yeah, its probably time to get the spare room turned into a nursery.

Here's my 2 cents. A friend's girlfriend was testing him (just like you are planning) and when she figured he really loved her, he said "You shouldn't have had to test me, I'm breaking up."
So if you need to test him, else you are an insecure person, else he's not for you.

Ask him to help you move heavy objects, or help with household chores, in or out, have him drive you to a far away place for some sort of appointment early in the morning, with heavy traffic. Depending upon the stink he puts up, or doesn't put up, you can tell if he loves you.

You shouldn't have to 'test' him, but if you must....
Try testing him with a few small things, like whine for a whole day for anything (ie, a tissue, a glass of water) and see how patient he is with you and if he is attentive. Pretend not to feel well and see how and/or if he takes care of you.....
Also, you could just ask him and take his word for it.

If you need a test then he is not worth having.Trust,honesty,loyalty will all be broken in such a "test".

you should really listen to them, you obviously don't trust him enough. Real love, loves unconditionally whether they love you or not (yes it matters) and if they say they do you should just trust them in that.
