Click on Insert on the menu, then click Chart. That will take you step by step through the process.

Use the chart wizard.

It is either avaliable using an icon on the Toolbar with a lot of sky scrapper type colored bars or goto Insert ->Chart on the menu

First, Right click on the toolbar area and select Chart to load the Chart toolbar.
Then select the data in your spreadsheet that you want to have charted and click on the chart type icon in the chart toolbar (farthest on the left) and choose the type of chart you want to use to display, this should dump a graphic in your spreadsheet that can be moved and stretched.

Little known fact: While within your data table - press F11 - and voila! 80% of the time you get the chart you wanted!
