An ex co-worker of mine works for a company and he encouraged to leave my current job for a posistion at his present company. He helped me with my resume and spent a great deal of time with me answering questions and even invited me for a tour of his company and introduced me to everybody. While I was interviewing the interviewee told me that he had gone on and on about how wonderful I was and how I would be great for the posistion. Needless to say I got hired. How should I properly thank him. That was soooo great!

Bake him some of his favorite cookies and wrap them up really nice, and with that a nice Thank You card.

I don't think he was looking for a Thank you gift... I bet it's thankyou enough that you work with him now.... Obviously he thought you'd be a great addition to the company, and that he wanted to be working with you again! I bet just a "thank you" would be enough for him... but I know that i like to give someone a gift in appreciation... if one or both of you is married, do not take him to lunch/dinner it could cause a problem with the spouse... get a gift certificate, or bottle of wine... if he is not attached, take him out for a nice/casual meal... or if he likes a certain sports team in the area, grab 2 tickets, maybe he'll invite you (hopefully you enjoy the same sport he does lol)... :) anything, sometimes a surprise gift that isn't typical for a "thank you gift" is fun!

A hand written thank you note is always appreciated. Next, make certain that you do a very good job in your new position so that your performance does not reflect poorly on your friend. Finally, always remember that your friend may at some point be your boss and you should never compromise your integrity out of gratitude for the "leg up". Good Luck

This depends: is he single or married? If he is married, a thank you note would do, not just saying it, but writing it down in a small card would be enough. No need to mingle or get him in trouble.
However, if he is single, you MUST take him out for dinner. Nothing fancy or expensive. Say its a way to thank him for all his help. I am no saying that you should like him of that you owe him a *****, but he is a guy believe or not we do like some gratitude if we have work our as.ses off for something that had nothing to do with us.

i does not pick a thank you card from a stranger besides. borrow $10 from a co-worker and tell her to purchase herself some lunch. pay your co-worker back once you get your wallet. and be sure you examine your balances formerly you're so grateful. she might not be the guy who got here across it first. save a distinctive eye on your credit enjoying cards in case you have them. it ought to be 2 months later, and hastily you have some costs, yet you not at all suggested the cardboard stolen considering which you acquire it back already. have been given it? merely call the cardboard company (even debit) and enable them to appreciate that it became out of your posession. you could pick them to alter the cardboard numbers merely in case

I would take him to lunch as a thank you. If you want to get him a gift, buy him one of those magnetic dart boards from Brookstone to hang in his office.

Although he was nice to recommend you, you deserve the credit for having the "goods" to get the job.

You don't want to cross the line with your thank you.

get him something useful (you know him better, you know what he might need) maybe something for the office, or for his house... if you do not have any inspiration, just ask him. my friends do that with me. it is better to ask him and buy him something he really needs than to waste your time and money on something he'll throw in a corner and never use it. if he refuses to answer you, take him out for a coffee as a sign of your appreciation

I think it is nice of someone who goes above and beyond the average normal, so should you! A gift-it will express your gratitude.
