There are many ethnic asian people, and why do black people always assume it's chinese only? Is there something bad about Chinese people or what? People don't like to be called names and it's very insulting to know that they're not willing to get to know the person first before they judge them because they could be wrong. Don't judge the books by its cover!

Nothing against black people, but it's just that the one that have been calling me names are black people only. Not all black people do that, because I do have good black friends too. They took their times to get to know me first and we became good friends.

I like to 2nd on what Mulan said. They just need to realize it's an insult. They have nothing better to say, then just call people names. They wouldn't like it we call them names, too. So, they should treat us like they treat their own. Love your neighbors as you love yourself.

i do that all the time too and im Mexican... it might be for the same reason that people assume that everyone that speaks Spanish is Mexican. to me they are not judging in a negative way. why would you say "is there something bad about Chinese people or what" you right now are insulting Chinese people because you get very upset that someone would even mistake you for a Chinese person. and not ALL black people do that. don't judge a book by its cover. take your own advice little girl

First of all the generalization of a racial group by other is not uncommon. Lack of understanding and insight into the other group's culture has led some African African to mis label Asians as Chinese. The same occurs when some one says to a Latino so do you come from Mexico. A better understanding of the intricacies in the various racial/ethnic group is necessary in order to prevent generalizations and possibly improve relations between group

I think almost all races tend to generalize and call asian's chinese. It's plain ignorance. At least it's better than this one: My bf, who is Vietnamese, and I were hiking through a park, when a ranger came by and asked us if we had seen two lost orientals, and told us she was looking for two lost oriental boys. She used the word "oriental" over and over and we both just glared at her like she was nuts. Now she was just dumb white trash. But it just shows that most people in this country are confused about any other race than their own.

It is much easier and prefered to group people into one ethnic group then be political correct. Like Africans do not look at themselves as just Africans, they are Nigerians and Liberians, etc.

This is going to be a subject debated until the end of time. I feel we must not mistake ignorance for racism. The magority is unaware of politically correct statements in regard to race color or creed. It is sad for all, not just you. But something you can do for yourself is know this. Being offended is a choice an individual makes. Dont let yourself become down due to the facts that make up our culture regarding lack of education and racism. Rise above that and think of other things. Invest your thought and emotion into thing that shall keep your mind and spirit in a place of peace in this crazy crazy world.

Good Luck Dear!

personally i don't think that that is just a black thing i think most races classify other races in one catagory. latino ppl are classified as either mexican or spanish.. asin ppl are chinese japanese ppl are chinese.. and the same for black ppl.. hatian or jamaican . are just black by the untrained eye.. so its not a black ppl thing its and all ppl thing
