You should check the coverage to make sure they cover what you need.

Eyeglasses, Orthodontists, Dermatologists.
Can you go to a specialist?
Do you need to get pre-approval from your Primary Care physician first?
Go with the one that covers the most of what you need to use your benefits for.

I have BCBS (in CA) and I love it. They have a bunch of different plans to choose from (HMO and PPO then different plans in each of those categories) and you can really choose something that suits you and your budget. Some even offer dental, vision, life etc.

I'm not sure what HIP is so I can't really comment on that...sorry!

HIP, at least in nyc, STINKS.
its clinic based and ugh!!!
You have to go to a hip center, which is frustrating.
I havent had bcbs in years, but when i did, most doctors took it, and i actually had a normal private doctor. no problems. There was a deductable for some things.

BC&BS is great. Had it for 40 years. $ 80,000 heart surgery cost me $25.00. (Not all plans are as good as mine, though)
