thnx for the comment steevo but im still confused on how i would rent a bus to use for testing.. and not really sure how i would find someone like an employer who would lend one when companies are looking for people who already have theyre permits.. so your saying you do all the written first?? no actual driving ...recieve a permit for the written part and THEN go look for an employer to lend you a vehicle to take the test on??? im not employed by and transportation compny.. just wondering how you go abouut getting into to from the start with no employment with a company yet

The DMV does not provide the vehicle, your work may let you use a vehicle or youll have to rent one for the day.
1st study the CDL manual for airbrakes, general knowledge skills test, and Passenger take the tests at the local DMV cost about 40 bucks tops
2nd Use your permit to drive with your employer then you have to take a driving skills test. make sure you know the components of the vehicle as this is part of your walk-around
3rd Once you have your Class B with Passenger endorsement you can transfer it directly to most other states if you move some states however do require you to take the written portion again but not the driving portion
you will be charged a small fee like 10-15 dollars to transfer an out of state license

Good Luck on your test!!!

The usually procedure is to go through a bus company for instruction. There is a written test for a permit and road test for license.Laidlaw gives a 2 day course in preparation for the permit test in advance of driving instruction. After completing instruction they will take you and a bus to the examiners. There are no doubt other companies who do the same. Most states do have reciprocity in CDLs.Call your local dmv to ask more exact questions. Most states require finger printing, criminal investigation and drug tests.Department of student transportation in NY requires a passed driving record search.

Many companies in Maryland, especially school bus companies, as so desperate for drivers that they will train you and take you to get your license. You do not say what part of the state you are located in, but check with the school board, or a school bus contractor in your area.

You could also take your test in a Class B truck. All you would need to do after that is get the passenger endorsement.
