I think 9-11 pulled our country together in a way that hasn't been seen for awhile. It was horrible but a wake-up call and we have grown from it. Iraq is a mess because it seems so unending. We were right to rid the world of Saddam Hussein but we cannot build a democratic government in the midst of terrorism...not the way we are going about it anyway. And our soldiers are paying the price.
Al Gore has given global warming a credibility black eye. Bush has been much better than Clinton and has at least kept his pants on in the Oval Office. Plus, you have to love all those Bushisms - especially you - great master of puns.
Hurricane Katrina is the most irksome to me because it is a reminder of so many things I don't like about our government and society. It angers me that the slow response was attributed to racism. I find that personally offensive and am sick of that card being played every time something involving African Americans occurs. It angers me that Nagin didn't take more personal responsiblity for what happened. Guiliani(sp?) met the challenge and didn't cry about the national government not showing up with the cavalry. It angers me that so many elderly people suffered and died, that patients were euthanized in the hospital, that a little boy was not allowed to take his dog on the bus, ....it just goes on and on. So many mistakes were made, so much negligence, so much finger-pointing. It's ugly to look at. Katrina gets my vote for most disastrous.

Now, you just did that to stir up all the Bush haters. You did. You know you did. Now they are all going to be stumbling around frothing at the mouth for the next 2 hours. So much for work productivity. You can be a little rascal.

Greatest disaster? Personally for me 911 and what has come after it, close to home..and the tsunami, far away. But its not fruitful to cluster and rank things like this.

The one that causes an American citizen to bad-mouth its current president.
The one that causes people to point fingers and lay blame instead of taking action.
The one that prevents loud mouths from getting off their chairs and doing something (personally) to HELP the situation.
The one that makes everyone an expert on how to run this country - yet they'd never stand a chance of even getting one vote to place them in the job.
What have you done to help?
