They need to represent the obnoxious loud gay woman demographic.

While ABC probably still approved the decision, it was actually Barbara Walters who chose for Rosie O'Donnel to come onto the show to replace the leaving Meredith Viera. Did demographics come into play when Walters was making her decision? I'm sure. However, I think the reason is that whether people liked or disliked Rosie, they knew her and the View needs a familiar face now that Viera and Jones are gone and until recently had a rotating fourth member.

Meredith V., Star J., Joy B. & Lisa L. were the best group. I used to watch if I was home, but things started downhill when Lisa left. It was still good, but her replacement just wasn't as good and some "umph" was lost. Now with Meredith and Star gone, I wouldn't tune if even if I could. It was a good mix, but unfortunately, egos got in the way and they just couldn't get along.

If they wanted to get a Rosie, why not try for Rosie Perez? She's real, tells it like it is, and is much more entertaining.

I didn't watch that show before but I really wouldn't even consider it now. Not to mention they booted off Star Jones! I would watch Star daily for the rest of my life to avoid watching 5 minutes of Rosie. She's loud obnoxious opinionated and rude. Adios View - With ROsie your ratings will end up down the toilet.

they did it to add something there that was not there attitude and opinon that s the plain and simple plot of it all the view has been a sinking titanic for quite awhile and they thought adding rosie in on the chemistry would make more people watch but evidentally with most old viewers it backfired

Rosie seems so uncomfortable on this show. I used to love her on her own show, but on the View she just sits there with very little to contribute and when she DOES say something it's just to belittle the guests. I don't know who thought this would work???

(Although I never even watched the show before so I guess that says something.)

I have NO IDEA. Merideth should have stayed on The View and Katie should have stayed on Today, too. Rosie was okay until she quit her show, cut her hair, and just generally started being a little too "out there." I don't mean gay, either, just wierd!

I didn't watch it but only once before, and I still will not watch it now. So bringing Rosie on, did not make me a catch.

Try and maintain ratings. Personally, I would not watch a rude, obnoxious, opinionated, coarse Rosie.

I think bringing Rosie o'donnell back was stupid...I dont like her too much and I think its a serious downgrade on her career.....She had her own high rateed syndicated talk show and everyone loved her and names her the queen of nice...now she is some co-anchor? (i'm shaking my head)
