She isn't a friend but we have workstudy 2gether.Her entire family is a little slow, but she makes $7 an hour saved about 2months of pay checks and bought $400 Gucci shoes.
That I dont' care about.
But when she told me about them I told her they were cute and she said 'These are btter that cut do't be jealous and thats when the argument began.
She said she bought them cuz people used to talk about her and how poor she is. But $400 shoes don't look good with a $10 outfit!Instead I told her that byin stuff outside ur means wont make anyone stop talkin about u, or like u! They will talk about u if u were rich or poor. She is a bit slow and her family is dirt poor, I didn't mention that I just said that I was gonna remove myself from the conversion cuz I know that somethin isn't clickin in her head.I told her
Was I rite 4 telling her that expensive clothes will not stop people from talking about you?

Her business. Not your place to get into how she spends her money, especially since you say she is not your friend. It comes off as being judgemental. I don't agree with what she did either, but I would not have told her.

You did nothing wrong by trying to save her from embarrassment or pain; however, sometimes people will only learn through experience.

When she comes to you for support after the shoe idea fails, be there for her.

Well, yes, but if she wants to "fit in" because of her clothes, let her know she can get shoes, bags and lots of designer stuff online for much less. Even clothes from K-mart, is worn right can gets lots of good attention.
