Youve got quite an imagination. The answer is I dont think they can be if they were born blind bec its always dark for blind ppl. they dont have the concept of light/dark. If it is possible then they would be scared 24/7. You are only scared of dark because you experience light. In fact I dont think blind people are scared of anything. What you cant see cant hurt you.

deepadot's answer about criminals is correct.
The other reason would be that sighted people can't see where they are going and are not equipped as blind are. The sighted might run into her and knock her down.
If she has been reading too many scary stories, then she could imagine creepy things coming out in the dark. Most blind people can perceive light and dark, and some can even see shadows or even more, like color, but the images are not defined enough, so they are considered legally blind.

The concept of "Dark" doesn't make sense to a blind person.
Darkness is the absence of light. We notice it's absence because we can see light when it's there.
A blind person doesn't have "access" to light. It's always Dark to them.
However, darkness is not BLACK to them as to us. They don't know what Black is. Again, same reason as above.
However, remember, we are afraid of the darkness because our instincts tell us that it's a perfect place for predators to hide.
Fear of the unknown.
There are things that scare blind people as much. Perhaps, no sound, or nothing to touch.. or too many people like a busy city street.
There are websites where you can talk to blind people, try them

Yes, I was going to answer very like Deepadot did.
The blind person can be aware that it is easier for someone to prey upon them at night, therefore, in a sense, be afraid of the dark -- their fear is not in their lack of sight, but in the fact that other people who are sighted will take advantage of their disability. Also, in the dark, other sighted people, who may notice "bad" people in the daytime, are less likely to witness that type of crime and assist.
ANd it's probably not unrealistic that a blind child would have a fear of ghosts, monsters, and boogeymen, just like sighted kids...it's still just as scary of an idea!

Well, since there would be no difference for a fully blind person between the light and the dark, for this to be true, the person would have to be afraid of both. Does this make sense to you?

I would say it's very possible. Let's say a blind person was walking along a side walk alone, they might be more afraid if it's at night because they know that bad people often hide in bushes, etc during the night, and usually more crimes happen at night when it's dark.

I heard that seriously blind people arent afraid of anything because since they are blind, everything is unknown to them anyways. So im guessing knowing that the light is turned on or off wouldnt make a difference to them either since its ALWAYS dark to them.

Sighted people (children mostly) are scared of the dark because of what they can't see and what they imagine to be there. It's the fear of the unknown.
Blind people have no dark. Completely blind people that is.

I would think not-they live in perpetual darkness 24/7 and that would mean living in constant fear if they did fear darkness!
One would hope their darkness will not become spiritual darkness.
To me it is comforting to know that while one may be blind, one can live in the light of our Lord-light that is within by His grace that enabels us to live enjoyable lives-lives of courage, interests, challanges and of course, Helen Keller comes to mind, having been blind and deaf and look at what a glorious and inspirational life she led. Truely awesome. Never was there anything said about her fearing the dark. marlyne B
