I am an artist, and I sell some of my work to people to in other states. They have to send check or cash to me, which is not safe and I hate having to wait for snail mail to get my money. I have a paypal account, but I don't know if or how I can take payments from my customers through paypal with out selling something on ebay. Does anyone know if this is possoble, and how to go about doing it. I would love a way to offer online payments to my customers, but I can't afford to pay for some fancy account somewhere.

Yes, PayPal offers a lot a different services.

I listed 3 different services below. Login to your account and then click on either "REQUEST MONEY" or "Merchant Services"

With Request Money, it's usually meant for one time payments and that may not happen very offten.

With Merchant Services, it meant for online web stores and billing for your website.

Hope this helped...

ADDED: The other person does NOT have to have a paypal account if you use Credit Cards on your site!

Yes, I do almost daily. The other person MUST have a paypal account as well. I would put in your ads that you accept paypal, that would attract people like me who like a secure transaction

As long as the buyer has an email address, you can send them an invoice through PayPal and they can pay either by credit card, debit card or e-check.

Good luck!
