No, unless the bird is grounded or is spread along both the live and neutral wires. If it is, then yes. Are power lines really that strong?
Also it is not the voltage that kills..but rather the amps.

No. Shock requires grounding. If the bird doesn't touch anything but the wire, the power has nowhere to go.

when the bird lands on the wire he actually becomes part of the conductor(wire) and has the potential to be killed if he touches any part of his body to a grounded part or another energized part that is not in phase with the part he is in connection with..
believe me when i say, that the volts as well as amps will cause you to "sh*t out of your mouth", as linemen call it..

if you connect a wire (non-robber type) directly from the powerline to the ground, then the bird will taste really good. Don't forget about BBQ sauce though :P

Yes it happens on the tranformers all the time and knocks out elec for entire neiborhood.
