My suggestion is to put Zone alarm in and put the lock on 'stop all Internet activity' then shut it down. Completely. That way while you are gone no one will be able to get into your computer. I have found this program very use full as it protects your computer if there is a threat even if you are working on it. it is scary when the sirens and bells and whistles go and the big read lock comes up, but it does block anyone from trying to get into your computer.

I would shut it down, my hard drive died on me, and to get replaced, and I was told NOT to shut it down all the time (which I was doing) just turn of the monitor, but----when I go away I do shut it down for that period of time, feel safer, we could have a storm that effects electric, etc. one of my sons had lighting hit his and lost everytning on it. So Shut It Down when you go away, I will myself be going for about 4 days, and I will shut it down for that time=====HAVE A NICE VACATION!!!!

Unless you plan on accessing it over the Internet, shut it down. Something as simple as a power company employee servicing local connection can send a power surge through your house.

Shut it down! People can get into your computer if you leave it on.

Computer's are designed to run for days on end without being shut down... You can run it safely for 2 weeks.
However, there's no point wasting electricity. Unless you have something running, turn it off.

shut it down.
If there's no reason to leave it on (such as accessing it virtually while away) then it is best to shut it down. It'll save energy at the very least.
