I think you can love (more like lust) the idea of that person, but I think that a physical connection is needed to determine if it really is love.

No u cannot, simply becoz the communication via internet is limited to exchange of words, u miss the tone and sound of the person and his/her facial expression and body language. U can only imagine all this but it can never match the real person. Its like reading a book and then watching it as a movie (its never the same). To truly love a person, one should have a holistic idea about the person and should be able to explore the dynamics of the relationship in all dimensions. Unfortunately, internet/ telecommunication doesnt give you this option.

It's perfectly possible. In some ways, you might even consider it a more "true" love because it's based on personality rather than chemistry.
Unfortunately, it's very likely that the person you've fallen in love with is merely a fragment of that person. You're not seeing them in every possible light or situation.
Or you may have fallen in love with an outright lie.
The real question is, can that love survive real life?

Not not true love. Not unless the two people are dating eachother for real. I'd say it's just hormones and infaturation.

No, because love is an action. You can't kick someone you've never met either
