No. Each kid had chores to do for which we were paid an allowance. We all had to make our beds every day. As we became teen-agers, the list got longer, but so did the allowance. The concept of working for your money is alive and well in my household, many years later.

Are you the mother or the kid?

Mostly yes, when I was growing up. But when she grow old, I took care of her too. But I did have other assigned chores, like taking out the garbage, and mowing lawn. My mother tried, but I just would not make my bed. I could see no reason to. She did her best, and I was wrong, but I still turned out good.
