Ok reading this made me think .. read this and let me know what your response to it is
This was found on a myspace page I myself are not white...
(directed toward persons of non-white race)
You call me "Cracker", "Honkey", "Whitey" and you think it's OK.
But when I call you Kike, Towelhead, WOP, Sand-******, Camel Jockey, ****, ****** or Chink, or BLACKIE you call me a racist.
You have the United ***** College Fund.
You have Martin Luther King Day.
You have Black History Month.
You have Cesar Chavez Day.
You have Yom Hashoah
You have Ma'uled Al-Nabi
You have the NAACP.
You have BET.
If we had WET(white entertainment television) ...we'd be racists.
If we had a White Pride Day... you would call us racists.
If we had white history month... we'd be racists.
If we had an organization for only whites to "advance" our lives... we'd be racists.
If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships...you know we'd be racists.
In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching for your race and rights. If we marched for our race and rights...you would call us racists.
Did you know that some high school students decided to make a club for only the white students because the other ethnicities had them... they all got sent to court for being rasist but the african-american, latino, and asia clubs were not even questioned.
You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid to announce it. But when we announce our white pride, you call us racists.
Why is it that only whites can be racists?

Again, I'm not white, but for my African American friends ( not black either)
You do know that just about every race has been a slave culture at some time or another...... Right... you all know that

Everyone asks that question.
SImple answer: whites are the historical majority and the most successful/creative race on the planet. Other races follow our accomplishments. Other races follow us into the suburbs after we built up the town for them....then they trash it and blame whites.

Damned if this ain't true. I myself have thought the very same things. However, I can hear the answers now: Every day is whitie day! Every school is whitie's school! Every organization is run by whities!
And to those people I say that North America has been a white-majority for a very long time. In China, the majority of CEO's and authority figures are Chinese!! Go figure...
Things are changing, but to exclude other races from such things as scholorships, clubs, or schools is not the way to achieve equality. It is just as destructive as segregation was. Drop the "black's only" things. Get rid of the way history is taught in school (which I believe had already been done, but there could always be more), and teach the history of the country, every aspect.
You can't fight fire with fire as they say. Working together and getting rid of the racism card. That's the only way we will all truely be equals.
You're bound to get some really ignorant answers to this question. Hope those people can grow the hell up...

Very interesting indeed. I think it is because if you look back in history, whites have never been pursued for being whites. Blacks have been pursued and enslaved, Indians have been slaughtered just because they were occupying land whites wanted, Latin Americans are currently discriminated in the U.S. It seems African Americans for example, have Martin Luther King day to remember the struggle they had to go through to obtain basic rights, like riding wherever they wanted to on the bus. That never happened to a white. It is a way of honoring their past and to not forget it, because the progress that has been made since the 60s is indeed important. Furthermore, minorities tend to group to maintain their culture and identity. Jewish people have Jewish organizations, the Chinese may have a Chinese club or institution; the whites are majority so they don't need to create organizations for the survival of their cultures. But you are right when you say that whites would be called racists if they created an only-whites club, although the discussion can go on forever...

In terms of racist comments like "cracker" being acceptable while others are not, of course that's a double standard and shouldn't be permitted.
The problem with your other logic, though, is that not everybody starts equal. It's far more common to find a member of a minority group living in poverty than a white person, simply because poverty goes down through generations and while the ancestors of white people might have been able to create wealth and improve their lot in life for the next generation (and that would have continued for several generations), until recently minorities were at a severe disadvantage--people wouldn't give them jobs because of their skin color, or would pay them unfairly, or wouldn't give them loans so they would have to forfeit their houses and move away from a good job, or even go so far as to just burn down the house or intimidate them away from getting a job. Thus, many minority groups stayed in poverty from generation to generation, whereas white families were much more able to pull themselves out of poverty (or keep out of poverty in the first place). Because of that inequality, a minority group member born today in America has a much better chance of being born into poverty, and thus there are organizations dedicated solely to helping members of that minority group.
And the reason that we don't have white history month or white pride day or whatnot is because with white people being the majority, it's sort of always white history month--take a look at a history textbook and see how much time they spend dwelling on the accomplishments of white people as opposed to other races.
To a certain extent that's unavoidable because for the longest time only white people were in positions of power, and thus they made the history, but still.

Historically white people have suppressed blacks and other races so we have a price to pay in our society for that abuse. There's still a lot of "white privilege" going around but I don't think positive discrimination and these race specific awards is the way to address it.
For example we have the MOBO awards and it is true to say if there were MOWO awards the consensus would be that was "racist". However, are the MOBO awards the best way to promote the status of minorities? The mere fact of having them sort of makes the statement that we have to have them to redress some kind of balance. Whereas black music is good enough to compete and stand up in its own way without this kind of "prop" so MOBOs could be said to perpetuate some kind of segregation we don't want and don't need,
Sorry this post was more appropriate to a discussion forum than answers, but his in a way is not a very answerable question ;-)

Get over yourself. If you are a white male, you have the chance to do anything and everything you want. When you turn on the television you see your people in every frame. You have more women to choose from, more jobs, no one looks down on you.
I'm tired of white people denying your part in racism. You guys are at the top of the race pole so stop whining.
When is the last time you saw a black president? Do you get pulled over by cops all of the time just for driving? Do you always wonder if someone thinks you are lesser because you aren't white? Blacks will never be good enough. How many white people lose their jobs because of Affirmative Action? How many black people don’t get jobs because they are black?
Ever wonder what it is like to be a minority? Have you ever dated a woman of another race; or a black woman? Black women are the least desired of all the races, you love to date your beautiful blondes and never a dark-skinned black woman a second glance. Don’t deny it. Do you think this wouldn't have a negative affect on a black woman?
It ain't fun my friend and you have done your part to make minorities become minorities. Admit to your elevated position in society and stop trying to pretend that you care when someone calls you a stupid racist name like honkey. I don't even know what honkey means.
Anyway, why don't you talk to some real minorities or better yet, date one and maybe you'll understand the struggle of trying to succeed. Slavery was only a several generations ago, it take a long time to build wealth. Segregation was around when my mother was a young woman; you think that wouldn’t affect blacks today when they are looking for jobs or a better life?
Racism still exist, we all stereotype, so stop saying you don’t have a responsibility to other races or add to the negative view placed on them.
What we all must realize is that we all take part in the racism in our society. I early posted a question addressed to blacks about their irresponsibility in putting an end to racism.
You all need to take your place in line because we all are responsible for it and change. Thank you been there for at least being honest. The only problem is that you are just as bitter about your position as blacks are. It seems to me many Jews have caused much anger towards their race because of their ethnocentrism. Funny how someone white describes Halle Berry as a beautiful black woman. Did you also know that she is not all black, she is half white, half black. Like I said, racist.

I completely agree with you. People still want to act like the white people are the majority and that the white people today are just like white people 100 years ago. But guess what, news flash, we are not. I just think it is so unfair that because I'm white if i say anything that may on some off change offend someone of another race I'm a racist and a terrible person. I have thought about this for a long time and it just really pisses me off.

Racism is Racism. Ignorance is Ignorance. There is only one Race - the Human Race.
ADDED NOTE: Ignorance is only bliss to the moron. Other peoples ignorance can have drastic effects on others, why they walk around in la la land.
Counter intuitive should be on peoples minds when addressing these issues.
1) Stopping a group of kids from forming a group and classifying them as racist.
2) Not being allowed to form groups cause of someone Else's race.
3)and the list goes on...
Look at it from this point of view...by saying that so called "Whites" are dominant and other "Colors" need help to be better - are you not laying down the ground work for further separation of Nationalities, thereby, increasing Racism as whole? Your simply raising little kids to believe in the separation that you swear you are trying to get rid of.
It is called counter intuitive. F*ck the difference in Nationalities and move on - again -- There is only One Race - the Human Race. Anything other than One Race is racism and a separation of Mankind.

"According to the Census Bureau, as of 2005, America's racial composition is:
White American - definition includes people of European, Middle Eastern, North African, and Central, North and Northeast Asian ancestry, 80.4%, or about 238.3 million
Black or African American 12.8% or 37.9 million,
Asian American 4.2% or 12.4 million,
American Indian 1% or 2.9 million
Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander 0.2% or 0.6 million,
Two or more races 1.5% or 4.5 million "
This is for those that for some weird reason think Whites are no longer the majority.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Racism and reverse racism is wrong, very wrong, and should not be tolerated.
Whites are not only ones that can be racists and it is not ok for minority groups to be racists against any other group.
I believe every one should be judged on their own merit, every one should work hard for what they want. No one should use race as a cop out for not succeeding in life , you should always ask yourself, have I done every thing I could have possible done to get ahead in this life.
But the fact remains that minorities still have to put twice as much effort into any endeavour to be considered a success. Hardworking minorities still face discrimination because of the negative stereotypes and perceptions people still have.
So organizations like NAACP and UNCF and minority grants go along way to help out.
BET, I still struggle with because these days I think its more of a detriment than a plus to black society.
There is nothing wrong with any organization that attempts to build up a group of people as long as its not done by tearing down another group of people.
Whites are still by far the majority in this country and own the majority of the wealth and dominate the culture of this country.
People should stop begrudging minority groups the little we have to assist us in getting ahead and maintaining our identity.
In my opinions whites can go ahead and form all the groups and associations they want, as long as they are not doing it at the expense or detriment of any minority groups. Yes these days minorities have more opportunities and access, but we still have to work much harder to attain nearly the same level of respect.

Technically, all those clubs and organizations were created to combat thousands of years of wanton racism. Not that long ago, it was acceptable to discriminate against someone based on race, now there are clubs to promote their race to make up for the past. There were not hundreds of years of White Oppresion that we are allowed to make up for (I'm white by the way). I have always found it odd, that only whites are really considered racist, but it's a reality and to be honest, I'm afraid I'd be called a racist if I question it.

I think it raises a good point. Personally, i dont think any of the "nicknames" are very nice to use, but I have found myself wondering about some of the other things. Like why is there a scholarship for only black students, and why isn't there a pride day for caucasians. I think they need to just get rid of all of that and aim more for a general "be proud of your heritage whatever it may be" theme.
