... when Fox News is practical an adjunct of the White House, U.S. talk radio is dominated by conservative commentators, the vast majority of home-town dailies have conservative editorial pages, the second-largest circulation newspaper in the country, The Wall Street Journal, has a stridently conservative editorial page and the news services are basically press-release duplicators for the military in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Oh yeah, the most popular Web site - Drudge Report - is famously conservative.

What's up?

Lol rusty, half of those people have nothing to do with the news biz, John Stewart is on Comedy Central and Walter Cronkite has been retired for at least 15 years! Get real, dude!

Jesi, there's no such thing as API or UP. United Press became United Press International in the 1950s and now barely exists. Not a single U.S. newspaper, except the ultra-conservative Washington Times (owned - like UPI - by the Moonies) takes it as a wire service.

AP is the Associated Press, and it is definitely NOT liberal bias.

You are also wrong about editorial pages, vast majority of local dailes have conservative op-ed pages. You can look up the stats yourself. Jeez, so beautiful, but so ignorant!

It's simple, cry foul, say the media is too left and then try and pull it all more right, it's a culture wars tactic, a tacky, cheap trick. I happen to believe the media has gotten more and more right wing since bush took office (hmmm I wonder if there's a connection there).

Because more people read The NY Times, which is party to the Democrats socialist agenda. And not only CNN but the big three broadcast news programs are all liberally biased. API and UP have a left slant and most print newspapers have a left oriented editorial page.

CNN has improved its bias over the last few months but almost every broadcast I've seen includes at least one sentence telling the viewer what they should think. Why don't they just report the news without pushing people to think like they do? Its almost insidious the way they not just report a news event, but put spin on it. Its is more subtle, but its there nonetheless.

Just look at some recent examples:

George Allen (R - Virginia) calls a guy "macaca" and it is on the front page of the Washington Post for days and weeks later is still a hot story in DC.

Joe Biden (D - Delaware) makes insensitive statements about Indians ("you can't work at a 7-11 or Dunkin Donuts" in my town without being Indian). Makes comments about being southern since he is from a slave state (enthusiastically). The media basically ignores it.

Trent Lott (R - Mississippi) makes a positive statement about a fellow conservative senator Strom Thurmond on his 100th birthday and is run out of his position as Senate majority leader.

Robert Byrd (D - WV) Former KKK officer (Kleagle - recruiting officer) who pretty much voted the same way as Strum Thurmond and used the same excuses, calls someone a "white n-word" and nothing happens.

I can go on with examples, but this is why Republicans make this claim. Oh and Conservative is not a synonym for Republican.

Matt Lauer, Katie Couric, Judy Woodruff, Bob Schieffer, Dan Rather, Barbara Walters, Rosie O'Donnell, Meredith Vieira, Keith Olbermann, Jon Stewart, Miles O'Brien, Don Imus, Elizabeth Vargas, Charlie Gibson, New York Times, LA Times, Washington Post, Nic Robertson, Larry King, Bernard Shaw, Maureen Dowd, Elanor Clift, Ed Bradley, Andy Rooney, Walter Cronkite, and Soledad O'Brien. Whew! Did I leave anyone out?

Oh, yeah... MTV and Mike Wallace.

UPDATE: No, Cronkite was on the air as recently as last week. He also writes a weekly liberal column for the liberal press. Jon Stewart is the main source of news for a growing number of young adults. Do you have an excuse for the other names I listed?

Well, I'd say that many people watch nothing but ABC, CBS and NBC and read nothing but the New Yorkt Times. I'd have to say that "mainstream media" IS terribly left-leaning. They cannot say a good thing about our President, even when something IS good...That's just how it is...FACT

Liberal media is a myth. Republicans are in charge of every branch of government, the country is in big trouble, and they still whine and spend 90% of their campaign ad money bashing democrats! LOSERS!
