There are lots of techniques and exercises, but it would be foolish for you to take advice on that from people on here. First of all, where in your back is the pain? And what causes it? Is it muscular? Or perhaps you injured your spine at some time? Or you have a degenerative condition, or a ruptured disc? All of these would need different types of treatment. You should consult a doctor, a physical therapist, or a chiropractor and see what's wrong.

I have had chronic back pain myself and tried many different things. After months and months of research and trying things, what really helped best was finding out what was causing the back pain in the first place, which in my case, was STRESS. In every article I read about back paid, stress was always mentioned as being a possible cause. I worked a very stressfull job, so I decided it was not worth my health, so I changed to a low stress job, and along with going to a chiropractor and masseuse, my pack pain was gone within a week of switching jobs, and I have not had any major pain since. One thing I tried which also helped well was something called the "Bowen technique" which you have to find a massause who knows how to do it. Its kind of a wierd procedure, cause its not a massage, but a serious of "moves" that resets your nervous system. It should only take a couple sessions to get rid of your problem. But if stress is what is causing it, it will eventually come back. Also research inversion tables. These can also greatly help your back. Hope this helps!

i was suffering from chronic low-back pain for over six years and in the last couple of years i began feeling chronic pain in my mid and uppper-back as well. i was doing physical theraypy twice a week for almost four months earlier this year and i felt maybe 10% better. im just glad the army was paying the bill on that. i've seen many different medical doctors but their basic attitude is that they are just gonna give me drugs until the condition gets to the point that i need surgery. i've noticed that medical doctors are a waste for most things other than emergency care. in my experience i haven't gotten anything besides drugs that i could get over the counter in smaller doses, or drugs that i just cant take because they turn me into a zombie.
i just got out of the army and i saw an ad in a veterans newsletter that a chiropractor was offering free care for a year to any veterans returning from the conflict in the middle east. i barely felt the adjustments that he made, and i walked out of his office the first day thinking that he was a quack, and glad that i wasnt paying for it. by the next morning i realized that my hips had gained about 45 degrees to their range of motion when a did one of the stretches from physical therapy. and i felt 100% better than i had for the last 5 years or more.
i pointed out to my physical therapist in the past that i could stretch my legs further on one side than i could on the other and he didnt seem to have a solution other than that i should stretch that side longer. i have been seeing the chiropractor for about 2 months now and i feel better than ever. my range of motion is back, my back pain is gone, and i have more energy.
be very careful when looking for a chiropractor!!!!!! some of them are a waste of time. i have seen 2 others in the past and they didnt help at all. the chiropractor that i am seeing now studies the traditional "palmer" version of chiropractic. palmer is the key word here. its a completely different style than some of the others, and it is much more gentle, yet much more effective. if you go to a chiropractor and they dont do a thorough diagnosis, and just get right into cracking your back every way they can, then they might be doing more harm than good.
now i have heard a lot of criticism about the paractice and all i can say after experiencing both the mainstream medical communites approach and the chiropractic approach to back pain is: chiropractic works, plain and simple.

Many things have been tried. One doctor in Houston, TX, found that 500-1000 mg of vitamin C three times a day relieved his pain, and the pain of a number of his patients. Worth a trial of a couple weeks, I'd think. Wobenzym N , an enzyme product described in The Aspirin Alternative has been helpful in some cases. Dr's Lawrence and Rosch (Magnet Therapy) describe how they use magnets and MSM (The Miracle of MSM) in their practices to relieve chronic painful condtitions. Monavie juice has helped people I know who had a problem with back pain. Good luck!

I have chronic back pain and a degenerative disorder.... I have long term physio, gentle excercise and accupuncture... The accupuncture is a BIG help.
