It is a statistical fact that the polar ice cap is melting at three times the rate is was 10 years ago. Three times the rate! All that nice white ice reflects some of the sun's energy back into space. A planet's reflection index is called its "albedo". A high albedo will reflect more light, a low albedo less light. As the Earth's ice caps melt, the Earth's albedo goes down, and the Earth gets warmer because there is less and less of the sun's energy reflected back into space. It is a vicious cycle - the warmer it gets, the faster the polar caps melt, so it gets even warmer. Venus (with surface temperatures of over 800 degrees Fahrenheit) is a good example of what can happen when not enough of the sun's energy is reflected back into space.
What can we do about it? I don't know - we can't "re-freeze" the ice caps. I just don't know. If we stop polluting Earth's atmosphere, maybe the Earth and sun can work something out. There is a theory that the sun has a "thermostat" that tends to regulate temperatures on Earth somewhat, or cause things like an Ice Age. That is my hope. But there is only so much that the Earth can withstand. The burning of fossil fuels and coal are some of the biggest contributors to global pollution.

Global Warming could cause the polar Ice Caps to melt there for raising the earths water levels substantially, put Manhattan, Las Angeles, New Orleans, Hawaii, all tropical islands, under ALOT of water. Basically the worse parts of the bible

I like the day after tomorrow hint! I'd say the same thing but some of that is a bit over board. But it's close. Actually it could go either way but personally I'd more about the sun getting into it's red giant stage then global warming....

im doing a project of global warming... some consequences are:
- the melting of the poles, and that cpuld make dissappear many little islands in the ocean....
- the death of a lot of species because they are not used to this changes of temperature
- as global warming is done with gases, these can affect our living contaminating our rivers, air and soil.
- acid rain is also a problem. at the moment the bigger victims of it are the buildings, but soon, it could affect our skin, eyes, etc.
- global warming also causes the actual natural disasters, such as hurricanes, tornadoes, and tsunamis..
well, hope it helps.. if you want more send a message... byee

Water shortages, crop failures, deforestation and desertification, extinction of many marine and land species, increased flooding, massive die-off of humanity.
The Al Gore movie,'an inconvenient truth' is a lot more factually accurate than the day after tomorrow, with does not reflect current climate theory much at all really - trailer for the film on the link below.

We kill ourselves due to the toxic fumes released into the air from all the automobiles causing the ozone layer to deplet allowing the sun rays to come through harming our skin and warming the earth.
