I have an old dell dimesion with a fried processor and have just purchased a new dell inspiron I am curious as to how I can get all the data off my old hard drive and on to the new laptop. Is this possible to do even when the old computer wont even start up because it has no processor and if so how?

try using norton ghost. i have found it successful for desktop PCs. i doubt if it can work for LAPTOP. however, if u can manage a friend's desktop for a day. you can copy your hard disk data on to his partition.

Then you may connect his desktop and your laptop in a workgroup. Use a cross utp cable to get connected between the machines. copy your data onto laptop and give back your friends PC after deleting your material from it.

any luck let me know.
