The Chevy Nova was listed as an American car but was really made in Japan and I think it was a Toyota. The Chevy Prizm has the Chevy symbol on it but it is a "Corolla" with the Chevy name on it. I want to know what other cars are listed as American cars but are really made overseas.

1. The Geo Prism was assembled at the NUMMI plant in Freemont, CA, a joint venture of GM + Toyota, not overseas.

2. You can determine the country in which the vehicle was made by deciphering the VIN. The make up of the VIN is not standard but varies from one manufacturer to aonther. In some cases a vehicle in a particular market could be could originate from more than one plant in more than one country. Toyota Camrys are built in Georgetown, KY as well as Japan. The VIN will tell you where it comes from.

3. I'm unaware of a complete list covering country of origin although somone like SAE or the Department of Commerece might have it for current production vehicles.

Hope this helps.
