To both questions, this is all normal. On the drooling, Old wives tale is that if mom didn't get what she was craving while pregnant, the baby would drool til he/she got a taste of what it was. Of course you can't feed your newborn foods you eat.
The 4 oz. every 3 or 4 hours is normal. If your baby is taking the full 4 oz., try increasing to 6 oz., and then to 8. He/she should get up to 8oz. every 4 hours.

Usually I read some of the answers before I answer so not to duplicate, but I am short on time. So I will go ahead and say i am sorry if I give any info. twice..Just in case...
yes it is normal for the baby "drool"
if you are breast feeding sometimes it can seem like every 30 mins and feel like they can eat forever, that is due to a growth spurt and the baby is getting you to produce more milk. Most peds. will tell u as long as they are holding it down, feed them, there seems to always be some guide for this but every baby like every adult is different so they require more food more often. So keep up the feedings...lol If you are truly concerned talk to the ped. and I am sure they can put you at ease!
Good Luck and Congrats on the new baby!!

All normal my daughter was teething at 6 weeks and blowing bubbles is what they do best! Try giving 6 ounces at each feeding. Fills them up faster. Mines on cereal now and she's 2 1/2 months!

Mine were droolers at that age and it is normal. Sounds like he is eating great. He's probably going through a growth spurt so that explains why he is eating more frequently. He should start going longer after a couple of days. If not, add and ounce to his bottle and see if that helps. They tend to go through growth spurts on the 3's: 3 weeks, 6 weeks, 9 weeks, etc.
Congratulations!

Babies drool alot. That's a baby thing and quite natural. Your baby sounds like he is eating enough. If he is gaining weight then he is definitely eating enough. Don't measure the amount of formula your baby eats. A good Gage is if he is gaining weight. They go through growth spurts and the amount they eat can vary from time to time.

It's completely nomal for him to drool that is what he is supposed to do. As far as eating there is no set amount. He will eat when he gets hungry. As long as he has the nomal amount of dirty diapers then he is fine. Plus babies don't eat a whole lot at 4 weeks.

my son's doctor said it was normal. my son started drooling at about 3 or 4 weeks. He said its because their salivary glands are kicking in and babies dont know how to swallow their saliva. Every baby varies on how much they eat. my son ate 2 oz every hour to hour and a half when he was a month old.

The baby might have a gum infection or irritation. Examine the mouth and look for bright red tissue. When they start to teeth, they will product lots of fluid and want to chew on items... like a finger or whatever is close.
