and cancelled my "media package" could it be the phone? the fact that i cancelled my media package? i should still be able to connect (and be charged for it) ??? whats up? i want to get a ring tone.

Best thing I can tell you to do is contact your provider.

By killing your media package you probably killed your mobile web access. Contact your carrier to get set up again. At least w/ Verizon Wireless, you need to have Mobile Web as a paid feature to use your browser to access their IP network. It's not a true pay-as-you-go-feature (although the data calls use up minutes).

It's pretty frustrating, since you need web access to get at those ring tones that your carrier only offers, at a cost. So you pay again. Arrg!

if you just got a replacement phone, it probably does not have the WAP settings pre-programmed. call your provider's customer care and ask for the settings. it should work after that. a media package is only for data usage. it offers so many bytes for a lower rate by paying such and such monthly fee. that should not have anything to do with Internet access.
