....she gave me sarafem and my hair fell out in a round place but I have animals too, I went to a dermatoloist and he said nothing was there? no fungus? My dr. said it was the sarafem, so I quit taking it. Now I am more depressed than ever and I feel so weak and tired all the time and my hair is still falling out...what could it be. should I get checked for lupus now, I'm tired of going to the dr. and leaving empty handed.

sounds like you need a different doctor. i have read that some people have had a paradoxical reaction and this has happened, so its a great thing that you stopped taking it. it wouldnt hurt to be checked for lupus if you feel it is necessary, but have you suffered from depression for a long time? i dont understand the reasoning behind rx'ing sarafem as opposed to prozac (if depression was the cause).

anyway, i would speak to your doctor. there could be MANY reasons for your hair falling out. if youre being checked for lupus then i would also recommend speaking to him about hypothyroidism, iron deficiency, seborrhea, and STRESS!

take good care,

My isp flaked outon me when I tried to answer this before soooo...have your thyroid checked. You have the classic symptoms of low thyroid. I've been on meds for over 25 years. It is a very well controlled issue. Go to an endocrinologist if at all possible. This is much more likely than lupus.

BTW: Stress as well as hypothyroid will cause your hair to fall out in round patches., AND wellbutrin is an antidepressant often given to people with low energy levels my OB called it the "happy, healthy and horny pill" to which I say two outta three ain't bad...

You may have a low red blood count (or something to do with the blood) because, I guess you're eating well + you're waterworks are well cos you haven't mentioned them, and we need our blood rich and healthy to release energy.. sounds like your doctors are quacks!

But really this is out of my league, you need to find someone professional.. and honest!

Have your thyroid checked, you would be amazed at the amount of people who never knew that was their problem
