It sounds like they care deeply for you, I think you should tell them you understand how much they care about you but you are in need of some space and you need it NOW! Tell them you appreciate it but it is making you physically ill!!!!! You are a big girl and can handle most everything, maybe they feel it is their duty. Good luck, I am a mom to grown children, it is a big concern. I hope your X is not threatening you if so then they have a legitimate sense of fear for you.

HONESTY!! It may hurt some feelings, but you need to think about YOU first. And look at what it is doing to you. Just tell them, I know and understand you guys want to be here for me, but it is really getting to me and it is actually stressing me out so bad that its not good for my health. Please just know that I AM 36 years old and Im not helpless without a man. (to your parents): you raised me right? Well, know that you raised me RIGHT! and trust me to make my own way for me and my kids from here on out. (now for everyone): I understand you all want to be there for me, and I appreciate it, I really do, but what I need from you all more than anything, is just be there. I will let you know when I need you and what it is I need. That will be the biggest help for me right now.
This way they wont feel bad when they realize that the way they are being there for you, isnt the way you need them to be. They are doing the best that they know how. The ONLY way they know how to be there for you. And unless you tell them HOW you need them to be there they wont know. People dont read minds. : ) Good luck to you hun.

Call a family meeting and then tell everyone how you feel, also tell them you love them for caring, but you are old enough to handle things on your own. Good Luck!

Let them know how much you appreciate their concern, but you have to learn how to deal with things on your own. You need time to yourself to figure out what you want/need to do and although their advice is appreciated, you want to learn about life on your own terms. Good Luck

They are always going to be there for you even when you may feel smothered but tell them when they take it too far.

Be thankful that they care, and politely tell them to back off a bit...and don't do it in that smart*ss way that you answer my questions. ;) Kick some butt tomorrow.

by now you should know that a family never backs off, they never mind their business either... Maybe they are just worried about you that's all..
